Steel E-Motive is creating virtual concepts for fully autonomous mobility as a service vehicle solutions
Steel E-Motive is a vehicle engineering program which is developing virtual concepts for two fully autonomous and connected electric vehicles designed for mobility as a service (MaaS) applications. We are using Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) technologies and products to design autonomous vehicle concepts to enable MaaS solutions which are safe, affordable, accessible and environmentally conscious.
Steel E-Motive’s objective is to demonstrate that Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) products and technologies can solve the unique architectural challenges of MaaS, ultimately providing virtual concepts as roadmaps for affordable, safe, mass and environmentally efficient vehicles.
Ride hailing, autonomous, electric vehicle fleets will deliver transportation to millions around the world. With a vast portfolio of AHSS and steel technologies from which to draw, we envision that Steel E-Motive will deliver innovative ideas for steel vehicle architectures that will shape the future of sustainable mobility.

The future of mobility as a service
Mobility as a Service is changing how we think about transportation. In a short time, we have seen a surge in demand for ride-hailing and on-demand delivery and fleet vehicle services, which is changing the way we think about getting from A to B.
We expect that vehicle autonomy will play an increasingly important role in this evolving market. It will unlock new possibilities for the MaaS industry and transform the movement of people and goods within and between our cities. But whilst this exciting technology has the capability to unlock new possibilities for the industry, it brings with it some unique challenges. These include ensuring passenger safety and comfort; vehicle and operational affordability; and environmental sustainability.
The Steel E-Motive program is designing our vehicle concepts from a blank canvas, meaning that we can best utilise Advanced High Strength Steel technologies and products and the latest in engineering innovation to build bespoke solutions specifically to meet these unique challenges.
